Recently, Energy Singularity signed an agreement with the Southwestern Institute of Physics (SWIP). The two parties plan to jointly develop the world's first tokamak device based on full high-temperature superconducting magnets. This device will achieve scientific and engineering goals of long-duration steady-state operation, planned to be built and operational with plasma ignition by 2024. At that time, this device will become the world's first tokamak device built and operated using full high-temperature superconducting magnets. This is an important step for Energy Singularity on the path to developing commercial fusion energy technology, laying a solid scientific and engineering foundation for Energy Singularity to move toward higher goals.
About Southwestern Institute of Physics
The Southwestern Institute of Physics is affiliated with China National Nuclear Corporation. It is the oldest and most technologically advanced professional research institute in China's controlled nuclear fusion field, with relatively complete disciplines and related laboratories required for fusion energy R&D.
