On August 23 2022, the HICOOL 2022 Global Entrepreneurship Competition concluded successfully in Beijing. The first and second prizes of the competition were officially announced, with 7 first prizes and 21 second prizes awarded. Energy Singularity stood out from over 5,000 registered projects globally, ranking first in the New Energy/Materials/Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection track, and won the first prize of the HICOOL 2022 Global Entrepreneurship Competition finals.
On the evening of August 26, the HICOOL 2022 Global Entrepreneurship Competition Awards Ceremony was held at the China International Exhibition Center (New Venue). Central Politburo member and Beijing Party Secretary Cai Qi declared the opening, and Huai Jinpeng, Secretary of the Party Group and Minister of Education, along with Yin Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, delivered speeches. Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee Yin Yong presented the first prize awards to the winning projects of the HICOOL 2022 Global Entrepreneurship Competition.
Huai Jinpeng stated that the realization of the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation ultimately depends on talent and education. With its profound cultural heritage, broad development stage, and unique urban charm, Beijing has become an important choice for overseas students returning to China for development, attracting and gathering a large number of high-level overseas students for employment and entrepreneurship. The Ministry of Education has always adhered to unswerving openness to the outside world, steadfastly upholding the guidelines for studying abroad in the new era, actively serving the national strategy, and encouraging more outstanding overseas students to return to China, becoming a new impetus for promoting high-quality economic and social development. At present, China is accelerating the formation of a new pattern of high-level opening up to the outside world, integrating into the global innovation network with a more open attitude, where overseas students are playing an increasingly prominent role. He hopes that the vast number of overseas students will carry forward the glorious tradition of studying abroad to serve the country, forge ahead with the times, and develop together with the motherland, contributing to the realization of the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. During the opening ceremony, Weng Tiehui, a member of the Party Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, and Xia Linmiao, a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Education Working Committee, signed the “Framework Agreement for the Cooperation on the Demonstration Zone for the Service of Students Returning from Study Abroad” and unveiled the plaque for the Demonstration Zone for the Service of Students Returning from Study Abroad. Shao Xinyu, a member of the Party Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Sun Meijun, a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee and Minister of the Organization Department, launched the pilot construction of the National (Zhongguancun) Torch Science and Innovation Academy. Zhao Lei, a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee and Secretary-General, and Zhang Jinliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of China Construction Bank, launched the Torch Science and Innovation Financial Acceleration Plan and the “Torch Science and Innovation Fund.”
Before the opening ceremony, the attending leaders also visited exhibition areas including HICOOL outstanding projects, business schools, international talent markets, and high-level talent highlands. This year marks the third year of the HICOOL Global Entrepreneurs Summit. As an important brand for innovation and entrepreneurship in Beijing, HICOOL has attracted 14,000 entrepreneurial talents and 11,000 entrepreneurial projects from 94 economies worldwide since its inception, incubating 8 unicorns and 44 “specialized, precise, and innovative” enterprises. This year’s summit, themed “Entrepreneurship Together, Gathering for Innovation,” encourages global entrepreneurs to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and cooperate openly.
