12/25/2022, Energy Singularity signed an agreement with Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group to cooperate on the custom manufacturing of the HH70 Tokamak main system. Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group will act as the key equipment supplier for the Tokamak main system, custom manufacturing the three major key components of the HH70 Tokamak main system for Energy Singularity: the vacuum chamber, the cryostat, and the cold shield.

Over the past six months, the Energy Singularity team has completed the design and review of the main system. During this process, the two teams worked closely together, identified several key technical and process issues, and successfully found solutions. Marked by the signing of the agreement, the main system of HH70 officially entered the manufacturing phase to ensure that the device can be completed and the plasma ignited by the end of 2023.

About HH70:

HH70 is a full high-temperature superconducting Tokamak that Energy Singularity is developing and building, planned to be completed and ignite plasma by the end of 2023. All the magnetic systems of the HH70 device, including the Toroidal Field (TF) coils, Poloidal Field (PF) coils, and the Central Solenoid (CS) coil, are constructed with high-temperature superconducting materials. At that time, HH70 will become the world’s first full high-temperature superconducting Tokamak device to be built and operated, taking the lead in verifying the engineering feasibility of the high-temperature superconducting Tokamak technology route at the full device level.

About Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group:

Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group is a leader in China’s nuclear power equipment industry, and its development is closely linked with the development of China’s nuclear power industry. Since its development in the 1970s, Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group has become the nuclear power equipment manufacturing group with the longest development history, the most delivery performance, the most complete product support, the widest range of technical routes, the strongest equipment capabilities, and the deepest global cooperation in China. It has successfully achieved the mass and supporting delivery of the second-generation plus, third-generation AP1000, EPR, Hualong One, and fourth-generation high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear main equipment products; it is currently developing and researching key equipment such as the third-generation national Harmony One, fourth-generation fast reactor, and thorium-based molten salt reactor.
