On March 25 2023, the Shanghai Future Industry Summit, part of the Shanghai Industrial Technology Innovation Conference hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Economic and Information Commission, took place. Dr. Guo Houyang introduced new directions and trends in the commercial development of fusion energy on a global scale and shared Energy Singularity’s three-step development strategy for fusion energy research and development: The first step, by the end of this year, is to complete the construction of the full high-temperature superconducting tokamak HH70, verifying the engineering feasibility and operational stability of building a tokamak with high-temperature superconducting materials and planning to ignite plasma by the end of the year; The second step, by the end of 2024, is to develop a tokamak TF magnet with a magnetic field strength exceeding 20 Tesla; The third step, by the end of 2027, is to build the next-generation high-parameter experimental device HH200, with a deuterium-tritium equivalent energy gain factor Q reaching 10, laying a solid foundation for the research and development of high-temperature superconducting tokamak devices with commercial power generation potential and their operation and control systems.
